Soloevent.id – The Indonesian Umbrella Festival (FPI) always cooperates with umbrella crafters from various cities in Indonesia. This event has a mission to increase the existence of umbrella crafters, both traditional and creative. According to the Director of the Indonesian Umbrella Festival Heru Prasetya, the umbrella crafters were invited to find new markets.
“The goal of this event is to expand the umbrella crafters. In this event, all artisans gather together to bring together new markets. Through this event they could meet new communities and carry out various activities,” Heru explained during People at Sevent talk show on Sevent Radio, Monday (8/26/2019). Moreover, he added, FPI was conceptualized as a nomad festival to reach the market.
The festival was also a place to share knowledge between artists and visitors. The artists show the ideas of umbrella creation to ordinary people, so that FPI is not just a celebration, but also provides benefits for both parties.
About 80 artisans will enliven the 2019 Indonesian Umbrella Festival at Prambanan Temple, 6-8 September 2019. They come from umbrella crafters areas, such as Klaten, Tasikmalaya, Malang, Kendal, Purwakarta, and many more.
In addition to traditional umbrellas, FPI 2019 also attracts young artists who have creations of knitted and painted umbrellas. It is intended to attract the attention of millennials.
