Soloevent.id – “Sepayung Daun” is the sixth Indonesian Umbrella Festival Theme. Something from the old time was inspiring it. At that time, people used leaves as umbrellas to protect them from rain. It also adorns in the reliefs of one of the temples in East Java.
“At least, it was adhering since a long time ago,” explained the Chairperson of the Indonesian Umbrella Festival Heru Presetya on Wednesday (6/12/2019).
Do you know that it is the second time the Indonesian Umbrella Festival (FPI) held outside Solo? For this turn, it will holds at Prambanan Temple. There will be a tree which fits with the theme that can drape over the visitor. “It always highlights historic sites,” he explained.
Through FPI, Heru invites the public to understand the cultural diversity of the archipelago. He said that umbrellas are always adhering in Indonesia sacred moments, from childbirth, marriage, funeral ceremony, to traditional ceremony. “This festival is also a reminder about the essence of umbrella to the human being,” Heru said.
The Indonesian Umbrella Festival also has an educational value to open up people’s view into the cultural diversity of the archipelago. The various types of Indonesian umbrellas will be displayed. Visitors can convene with the craftsmen.
