Soloevent.id – As in previous years, the Indonesian Umbrella Festival has always involved umbrella crafters from various regions in Indonesia and abroad. This time there are around 80 umbrella crafters who will show their work.

They come from Malang, Kendal, Tasikmalaya, Purwakarta, Klaten, and many more. Director of the Indonesian Umbrella Festival Heru Prasetya explained the umbrella works from each region have their own uniqueness. “All the same, the meaning is the same because each region has its own uniqueness, for example from Juwiring (Klaten), it might be different from the umbrella made from Malang and other regions,” Heru explained when speaking at Sevent Radio on Monday (26) / 8/2019).

The umbrella-producing regions are embraced to be known to the wider community so that his work can remain sustainable. In addition to attracting the attention of millennials, the Umbrella Festival also attracts young artisans who have creations from knitted umbrellas to paintings.

Heru revealed that the holding of the Indonesian Umbrella Festival is expected to improve the economy of umbrella crafters.

Besides being able to ask questions directly to the craftsmen about umbrella art, you can also buy their works. The price offered by the artisans varies, ranging from Rp 50,000 to Rp 3 million. Later the crafters will also give workshops to make umbrellas to the visitors. Heru hopes that this event can provide entertainment as well as cultural learning for visitors.

The Indonesian Umbrella Festival will open on September 6, 2019, at 15:00 WIB with an Indonesian umbrella parade. The event which was held at Garuda Mandala Candi Prambanan, 6-8 September 2019, was enlivened by various activities, ranging from dance, music, competitions, and others.
