It is founded on October 29, 1956 in Solo, Lokananta became the country’s first music record company. Lokananta was founded by Oetojo Soemowidjojo and Raden Ngabehi Soegoto Soerjodipoero. At that time, Lokananta produced duplicate LPs to audio cassettes.
Lokananta still keeps a collection of thousands of regional songs from all over Indonesia.
There are also pop and keroncong songs, and the original recordings of President Soekarno’s speech.
Master songs from legendary singers such as Gesang, Waldjinah, Titiek Puspa, Bing Slamet, Multicolored Orchestra, Kerontjong Tjendrawasih Orchestra, Zaenal Combo, Sam Saimun, and others can also be found in Lokananta.
Besides physical albums, you can also see classic machines, for example machine quality control (1980), pattern generator, ribbon cutting machine (1980), VHS video recorder (1990), LP record (1970), power amplifier (1960) and much more.
Lokananta also stores rare speakers with the JBL brand name. The speaker made by James Bullough Lancing’s audio company is the only rare speaker in the world. In fact, Lokananta also has a rare mixer which he says there are only a few in the world. One of them is in BBC studio London, England.
Another famous thing from Lokananta is the recording studio. It was there that two keroncong maestros, Gesang and Waldjinah, had carried out the recording process. In more recent times, Lokananta Studio was also used by Glenn Fredly, Shaggy Dog, Compound, White Shoes and the Couples Company and other musicians to create works.
