Soloevent.id – Solo celebrated its 273th anniversary on February 17, 2018. Reminding the history of The Solo founding is inseparable from moving of Keraton Kartasura to Surakarta.

Soloevent collected from various sources, in 1742 there was a tragedy of Chinatown which broke down the Mataram Sultanate based in Kartasura. The incident caused the palace to be severely damaged, thus making the King of the Mataram Sultanate at that time, Sunan Paku Buwono (PB) II, consider moving the palace.

After sending his subordinates and going through a long process, finally the Sala Village was chosen which 20 km to the southeast of Kartasura. The village is near a large river which is called the Bengawan Solo River.

For the construction of this palace, PB II bought land for as much as a gold piece / 10,000 Dutch Gulden given to akuwu (lurah) of Sala Village known as Ki Gede Sala.

The palace building process in Sala Village lasted from 1743 to 1745. After all the preparations were considered complete, on Wednesday Pahing, February 17, 1745, Sunan PB II held a large procession when moving to a new palace and named the palace as the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace.

The reconstruction of the history of the founding of Solo was featured in the Colosal Dance “Adeging Kuta Sala” on Sunday (2/18/2018) morning at Jalan Jendral Sudirman by more than 200 artists and musicians. “Adeging Kuta Sala” portrayed in a coherent manner the battle between the palace soldiers and the rebels and was ended by the King PB II who carried out the procession of the transfer of the palace.

“In the past Solo was a quiet swampy area, now Solo is included in the list of the most comfortable cities to live in,” said the Mayor of Solo, F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo, when asked to join a dancer in the middle of the event.

Through this colossal dance that lasts almost two hours, the Mayor of Solo hopes that the younger generation can continue to remember the history of the city. The plan for this colossal dance will be held every year.
