Soloevent.id – Learning batik can be done in a shopping center. Ndalem Gondosuli works with several malls in Solo to hold free workshops with the theme Mbatik ing Mall in several places, such as The Park Mall, Solo Grand Mall, and Solo Square. Besides malls, workshops are also held in the Solo car free day. During the workshop, batik artists were invited to be asked about one of the archipelago’s unique fabrics.
Saturday (03/23/2019), Ndalem Gondosuli held a batik workshop on Solo Square. The workshop that can be followed for free only lasts for one day from 10.00-15.00 WIB. This workshop teaches knowledge about batik, the batik process from beginning to end. Workshop participants can also learn about the way of coloring and the manufacturing process using batik tools such as night, cloth, and canting.
One of Ndalem Gondosuli‘s missions is to educate the younger generation to better understand batik as a national cultural heritage. Through Mbatik ing Mall, it is expected to be able to increase people’s interest in the tradition of batik.
Mbatik ing Mall Committee Setyanto Nugroho said this activity is a monthly event which is the result of cooperation with the mall. “We want to invite visitors to the mall to know and learn to make batik directly. Because what we know is that batik is a national cultural heritage that must be preserved,”he explained.
For those who don’t know, Ndalem Gondosuli is a place of education, workshop or training, and an art gallery located in Kampung Batik Laweyan, Solo. Ndalem Gondosuli building carries an Art Deco style and is equipped with various supporting facilities, such as meeting rooms, art space, batik workshops, batik showrooms, and art galleries. Batik products in Ndalem Gondosuli refer to the traditional and contemporary concepts of exclusive batik clothing.
