Soloevent.id – Wayang Orang Sriwedari (WOS) will celebrate its 109th on Saturday (07/20/2019). Several preparations are ready to welcome it.

Wayang Orang Sriwedari Coordinator Agus Prasetya said this special edition play stories about the Pandawa entitled Mahabharata Adibrata. “We will do our best,” he explained for Soloevent at the Wayang Orang Building on Tuesday (7/16/2019) afternoon.

In its birthday, Agus hopes that Wayang Orang Sriwedari can be useful and revive culture for the community.

The performance brings the sequence of Mahabharata Adibrata stories. The play recounts of the Pandawa glory, ranging from Babat Wanamarta which is dumped into the forest. Then, Pandawa disguise in Winarta to Baratayuda. Also, Pandawa who are deceived by the Kurawa.

The players come from many agencies, such as Agung Kusuma W (Moncarisawara), Wijanarko (Moncarisawara), Sri Hadi Bisma (ISI Surakarta), Warsidi (ISI Surakarta), Wahyu Sapto (RRI), Sidik Suradi (SMKI), Sadi Bei (Kebakkramat), Eko Gudel (Solo), and players from WOS.

“It is free for the public. Someday, we will provide the screen outside so people who cannot enter can still watch through the screens. There are also photo booths and culinary stands,” said the Head of Bidang Kesenian, Sejarah, dan Sastra Dinas Kebudayaan Surakarta Maretha Dinar to Soloevent.
