Soloevent.id – The spirit of diversity is the inspiration for making Solo Batik Carnival (SBC) XI costumes. The costumes are the embodiment of the theme “Ika Paramartha”. According to Lia Imelda, Chairperson of the Solo Batik Carnival Foundation, the word comes from Sanskrit, namely Ika which means one and paramartha which have good elements.
“This theme responds to the unfortunate events that have hit Indonesia in recent times. That diversity should not be divisive, it will unite,” she explained during a press conference at Swiss-Bellin Saripetojo, Wednesday (02/14/2018). She said, the differences would be incorporated into cultural arts performances through the Solo Batik Carnival.
Later, the costumes of the participants will display local wisdom from the islands in Indonesia, namely Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and Papua, plus DKI Jakarta. “Although DKI Jakarta is part of Java Island, we deliberately raise it because it is the capital of Indonesia,” explained Coordinator of Solo Batik Carnival XI, Ragowo Ade Kurniawan.
He added, the SBC XI theme has been discussed since November 2017. The determination of the “Ika Paramartha” as the theme was carried out in February 2018.
Solo Batik Carnival XI is held five days in July 2018. The Grand Carnaval will be held on July 15th. While on 11-14 July there will be an exhibition at Vastenburg Fortress. Ade said, Solo Batik Carnival Foundation was ready to open participant registration.
