Mascot SIPA 2018 Will Performs Work Art

Soloevent.id – Every year, Solo International Performing Arts (SIPA) always has a mascot. These mascots were selected from artists.

If last year Eko Supriyanto aka Eko Pece became a mascot, in this tenth edition Melati Suryodarmo’s turn. The woman born in 1969 was a performance art artist from Solo. Her works are often displayed at international festivals.

On the SIPA 2018 stage, Melati will present performance art and dance works that she choreographed before. “At the opening of SIPA, I will present performance art work collaborated with Semarak Candrakirana studio, SMKI, and young musicians from ISI Surakarta. This is a bit different and a surprise later. Then there is also one new work that will be displayed on the second day, “She said at a press conference at SIPA 2018, some time ago.

 

 

 

Speaking of works, body exploration is a characteristic of Melati’s performance art and choreography. The human body is an important source of inspiration for her works. Melati rewards the human body without seeing form, but rather judges through aesthetics that can be displayed by anyone and at any time.

She often raised issues of politics, social, human psychology and philosophy of culture into the work. In addition to the body, Melati’s works are also inspired by traditional art.

At SIPA 2018, Melati will also enliven the event with delegations from six countries, namely Indonesia, Italy, Taiwan, the Philippines, Russia and Korea. The works of the performers will discuss friendship, brotherhood, diversity according to the 2018 SIPA theme, “We Are the World, We Are the Nation”.

SIPA 2018 will be held September 6-8 2018 at Vastenburg Fortress Solo.
