Soloevent.id – As a group whose personnel have eaten a lot of acid-salt, the quality of the Trio Lestari doesn’t seem to be in doubt. When the inaugural gig in Solo, on Saturday (02/10/2018) night, they appeared loose and entertaining.
In a concert titled Back in Black held by Retroactive Communication at the Alila Solo Hotel Grand Ballroom, Trio Lestari not only presented classy vocals but also mastered the stage’s mastery. It was thanks to strong chemistry between Glenn Fredly, Tompi, and Sandhy Sondoro.
The concert opened with two cover songs arranged in a jazzy touch Zamrud Khatulistiwa and Malam Minggu. Before going to the third song, Nurlela, Glenn had time to share the story about the song. “This song is on our album [Wangi]. This song was recorded and first played in Solo, precisely in Lokananta,” he said. When carrying it on stage, Trio Lestari combined it with the phenomenal song created by Gesang, Bengawan Solo.
After Nurlela was sung, Glenn tells about one of the oldest recording studios in Indonesia, Lokananta. Glenn and The Bakuucakar had recorded the Live at Lokananta album. “The history of Indonesian center music is here [Solo],” Glenn said.
He continued, Lokananta was built after five years of independent Indonesia. Then Lokananta spread the recording plates of regional songs throughout Indonesia. “The first president made a studio,” he said.
They – especially Glenn and Tompi – successfully made the audience laugh. One of them was when Glenn invited Tompi to perform solo. Tompi’s smallest posture between two of his colleagues became a joke for Glenn. “This is an amazing little singer,” he said.
Yes, that night each Trio Lestari personnel was given time to show off solo. They played hits such as Sedari Dulu and Never Ever Half Hearted by Tompi When a Man Loves a Woman and About Your Feelings which Sandhy Sondoro performed with full inspiration, then closed Glenn Fredly through Cinta dan Rahasia and Malaikat Juga Tahu.
At the end of the concert, Trio Lestari sing medley Kisah Romantis, Menghujam Jantungku, and Malam Biru. The songs are hits song for them. For closing, they presented “Gelora Cintaku”.
