Soloevent.id – Thousands of Solo Elementary/Middle School students dance Jaranan at Sriwedari Stadium on Monday (4/29/2019), in Solo Menari 2019. Surakarta City Government holds this event to enliven World Dance Day, which is celebrated every April 29th.

Starting at 3.45 p.m., the dancers entered the field. They use colorful costumes. The yellow costume is on the north side, the green costume on the south side, the red costume is in the front row, and the black costume on the back.

Solo Menari 2019 was opened by the S. Marini dance works by 50 male dancers. Then, Jaranan was danced by 5,000 male and female dancers. They looked shrewd and eager to follow the instructors guiding from the stage.

Uniquely, the Jaranan dancers make three formations, the map of Indonesia, form Solo Kota Budaya, and Solo Menari 2019. It can be seen from above.

This mass dance was successfully recorded in the LEPRID record book (The Indonesian World Achievement Institute) with the category “The Performance of Jaranan Colossal Dance with the Most Participants”. The granting of the charter was submitted directly by the General Chairperson of LEPRID Paulus Pangka to the Mayor of Surakarta F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo.

Rudy (greeting F.X. Hadi Rudyatmo) who opened the event said that Jaranan dance has a philosophy that children can emulate. “The horse has strong energy and great enthusiasm. Having foresight and not to be expected, hopefully, children can have the same character when becoming a leader,” he said.

Head of the Surakarta Culture Service Kinkin Sultanul Hakim said the purpose of the Solo Menari was to develop a creative economy and dance culture, as well as a means to foster a sense of love for the country.

Jaranan dance is a traditional art that is played by riding an artificial horse or braid line. The Jaranan dance performed in Solo Menari 2019 was created by S. Pamardi, a dance lecturer at the Surakarta Indonesian Art Institute.
