Soloevent.id – Celebrating National Education Day, the Technical Service Unit (UPT) of the Central Java Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) held a Book and Bazaar Exhibition at Surakarta City Hall, 22-27 April 2019.

This national program was held simultaneously in various provinces. Solo was chosen as the center of events for the Central Java unit. UPT Kemdikbud Central Java as the main organizer brought eight units to open a booth, starting from the Central Java Education Quality Assurance Agency (LPMP); Center for the Development of Early Childhood Education, Non-Formal, Informal and Community Education; Central Java Language Center; Central Java Education and Culture Multimedia Development Center (BPMK); Center for Preservation of Ancient Human Sites (BPSMP) Sangiran; Central Java Cultural Reserve Preservation Center (BPCB); Borobudur Conservation Center; and the Principal Empowerment Institute (LPPK).

The UPT of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Central Java also cooperates with the Surakarta City Government, the Central Java Provincial Education and Culture Office, the Surakarta City Education Office, and the Indonesian Pedalangan Association (Pepadi).

Soloevent met on the sidelines of the exhibition on Thursday (04/25/2019), Chairperson of the Implementation of the Cheap Book Education and Bazaar Exhibition Dr. Tatib Supriyadi, S.I.P., M, Pd. explained that this event was the second time it was held. The theme raised this year is “Strengthening Education, Promoting Culture (Menguatkan Pendidikan, Memajukan Kebudayaan)”.

The event was enlivened by 35 booths, some of which sold cheap books. Raja Murah for example, books are offered for IDR 5-10 thousand, ranging from novels, philosophy, food recipes to science and technology. Mizan Media Utama provides a 15% discount on its collections, ranging from comics, learning books, and novels.

Tatib said that this year’s event was more interesting because it involved Pepadi who would stage the “Kresno Gugah-Kresno Duto” leather puppet show on the last day of the exhibition. The show was orchestrated by Ki Purbo Asmoro, S.Kar and Ki Kukuh Indrasmoro, S.Sn.

This exhibition is also supported by students from high schools in Surakarta. Some tenants who participated in this event also provided workshops on education. Then there is also a talk show about the theme of the event.

Through this event, Tatib hopes education and culture can be more advanced, synergized and can increase the awareness of the younger generation about their culture.
