Soloevent.id – Solo is famous by its cultural which has many iconic and historic buildings. Usually these places are used as event locations, such as dance performances, music concerts, bazaars, and others.

Mmmm, do you want to know? Here you are seven of them.

  1. Kasunanan Palace

One of the cultural heritages is in the central of City. The palace is surrounded by Klewer Market and the Great Mosque.

Various heirlooms from Mataram Kingdom are neatly stored. One of the highlights is the Paku Buwana hat, ancient weapons, and abdi dalem equipment. Fyi, there is a garden filled with sand which is brought by Nyai Roro Kidul, the Emperor of the South Coast, inside the palace.

Kasunanan Palace has a cultural event which is held annually. One of them is 1 Sura held to commemorate of 1 Muharam. This icon is kebo bule descended from Kyai Slamet. They were paraded in the streets of Solo along with the royal heirlooms.

If you are watching this for the first time, do not be surprised if residents grab the poop of kebo bule Kyai Slamet. The buffalo’s pooping are believed to bring blessings. Do you want that?

 

  1. Ngarsopuro

Looking for a place to hang out? Stop by in Ngarsopuro, which located on north of Jl. Brig. Gen. Slamet Riyadi or south of Pura Mangkunegaran. You can enjoy the warm of wedang ronde, savory rice liwet, or spicy grill meatballs.

Every weekend there is a Night Market that offers souvenirs from Solo. If you like to collect antiques, Triwindu Market can be your reference. Besides Night Market, Ngarsopuro is also often used as a festival location. At the north end of the Ngarsopuro is the Gesang Stage which often features keroncong groups.

 

  1. Taman Balekambang

During the day, Solo’ weather is hot. There is one place to make a cup and feel the breeze blowing in the thick of the city forest.

It is Taman Balekambang that located on Jl. Ahmad Yani, this 9.8 hectare park is often used as a favorite location for family recreation. Combining the European-Javanese concept, Taman Balekambang has a fish pond and mini zoo. If you are lucky, you can find deer and monkeys that move freely.

Initially, the park was built by KGPAA Mangkunegara VII for her two daughters. Now, Taman Balekambang can be enjoyed freely by residents of Solo and outside the city.

There are two regular art performances held at Balekambang Park, Ramayana Dance (once a month) and Ketoprak Balekambang (Saturday night).

 

  1. Taru Jurug Zoo (TSTJ)

The zoo is located at the eastern end of the city and is on the edge of the Bengawan Solo River. Various species of animals and plants can be found there.

As of December 2017, TSTJ expanded by displaying garden lanterns. You will be treated to colorful lanterns and dancing fountains. You must visit this beautiful place for having a great picture for snapshot or instagram.

If you come at D + 5 Eid, you can join in ketupat and apem festival and watching the Jaka Tingkir carnival which is held at the peak of Syawalan.

 

  1. Kris Museum

This museum saves hundreds of Nusantara kris. The location is south of Sriwedari Stadium. Inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo on August 9, 2017, in the museum also provided a complete visual video and mini library about the journey and history of kris in Indonesia.

Not only as a place to store kris, but various cultural events are often held at the Kris Museum. One of them was held during the month of Sura.

 

  1. Mangkunegaran

Solo has Pura Mangkunegaran. The magnificent and beautiful Pura of the Kingdom of Mataram and Majapahit has become a historical tourist destination.

It was founded in 1757 by Mangkunegara I, in an original building that stores royal objects, such as carriages, kris, war equipment, ancient currencies, and others.

Pura Mangkunegaran has a large field called Pamedan. That’s where various cultural events have been held. Call it SIPA (International Art Performing Art), colossal performances of Matah Ati, and Solo Menari.

 

  1. Pasar Gede

Pasar Gede Harjonagoro is one of the largest traditional markets in Solo. The location is near from Solo City Hall.

Pasar Gede was designed by a Dutch architect named Ir. Thomas Karsten. It is a large and big, so it called “Pasar Gedhe”. This market has become a traditional culinary destination, such as dawet, gempol pleret, rengginang gandos, lenjongan, and many more.

Every time before the Chinese New Year, Pasar Gede area will look beautiful with flickering lanterns. Chinese arts, for example the lion dance and attraction are offered to entertain the residents.
